RP braces as another typhoon hits the country on All Saint's Day
Philippine authorities said Friday they were preparing for the worst as a typhoon was set to hit the nation's capital and nearby areas still reeling from storms that claimed more than 1,100 lives.
Four more provinces in southern Luzon and the Bicol region have been placed under Storm Signal No. 3 as typhoon “Santi” accelerates while continuing to zoom in closer to Quezon province, the weather bureau said yesterday (Oct. 30).
"Residents in low-lying areas and near mountain slopes under signals #3, #2 and #1 are advised to take all the necessary precautionary measures against flashfloods and landslides," the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The weather bureau also warned those living along coastal areas to watch out for storm surges and big waves generated by the typhoon.
