The Importance of Breakfast for our Brain
I’d like to cite here an article written by Cory Quirino in her column Inside Out. It tackles about the importance of breakfast to reinforce brain power. It says that people who started the day with empty stomach have low blood sugar levels. When you have lower sugar levels in your blood, your brain will be acting slowly as well. Why is it? Because our brain’s main source of energy is glucose. Sugar in the body is called glucose.
But glucose should not be coming from white stuff such as white flour, bread, pasta, or cakes but rather it should come from the right source of carbohydrate such as complex carbohydrates, leafy green vegetables, and fruits. If you’re really into breads and pastas, it should be the high fiber kind. Cereal is also good.
You do not need to have high blood sugar levels since high blood sugar thickens the arteries leading to poor circulation. Maintain your sugar level moderately and it will just be okay.
